Flying Geese Ruler

Take the guess work out of cutting the triangles for Flying Geese Units in finished sizes from 1 x 2 Inch to 4 X 8 Inch with this handy ruler that does the math for you. Both the large GOOSE" triangle and the smaller SKY triangles are cut from the same width strips.

Instructions:
To cut the large GOOSE triangle_ select black line on ruler that corresponds to the desired finished size Flying Geese Unit. Follow across black line to right edge of ruler and cut a fabric strip the width indicated. For example - to cut the large triangle for a 3 x 6 inch finished size Flying Geese Unit - cut a 3-1/2inch wide fabric strip. Cut triangles as shown - first placing the black cutting guideline along the bottom cut edge of strip and then along the top edge of strip. To cut the corresponding smaller SKY triangles - select the yellow line that corresponds to the desired finished size Flying Geese Unit. Follow across yellow line to left edge of ruler and cut a fabric strip the width indicated. For example - to cut the small triangles for a 3 x 6 inch finished size Flying Geese Unit - cut a 3-1/2 inch wide fabric strip. Cut triangles as shown - first placing the yellow cutting guideline along the bottom edge of the strip and then along the top edge. The yellow shaded area of the ruler will extend beyond the edge of the strip. TIP - Your triangles will be pre-trimmed with the tiny fabric tips that you usually cut off after sewing already eliminated. We cut these triangles with our strip folded in half so that half of our triangles are trimmed on the right end and the other half of them on the left end.
