Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details:
Instructor: Sheldon Henry-Valla
Instructor Bio: Sheldon began his sewing journey in 2012 when he decided to make a quilt for his grandmother. A year later, machine embroidery was the next step to add custom detailing to his quilts. Embroidery software and digitizing quickly followed. Working with a sewing and embroidery machine retailer in Austin, TX, allowed him the opportunity to acquire and develop skills to further his passion for teaching sewing, quilting, and machine embroidery. While working at the retail store, Sheldon developed several embroidery project classes, along with presenting prepared instruction from multiple companies. Video and virtual classes became necessary, and Sheldon became one of the primary video instructors; a role in which he enjoyed and excelled. Sheldon joined the OESD Education Content Team in March 2021. Creating projects and events to demonstrate ways to utilize machine embroidery energizes him. Freestanding lace and applique are his favorite, followed by embroidered cards, and anything that features embroidery in non-traditional ways. Beyond the sewing and embroidery world, Sheldon focuses on quality home life and baking. Sheldon will NEVER turn down a piece of ckae.
