Sewing Studio for Teens

Welcome to Kid Stitch, our Monthly Kids Sewing Class, where creativity meets fun in a hands-on learning experience! This class is designed for young beginners (ages 9-14) who want to explore the exciting world of sewing. Each class, students will complete a simple, age-appropriate sewing project that encourages them to express their individuality while learning essential sewing skills.

STUDENTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED KIDS BASICS PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN KID STITCH. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE AND NO REFUNDS GIVEN IF YOU ENROLL YOUR CHILD WITHOUT HAVING COMPLETED KIDS BASICS.

Each month, we’ll focus on a new project, such as making a personalized pillow, a cute tote bag, or even a custom bookmark. These projects are designed to build basic sewing skills and foster creativity.

Children will learn how to use a sewing machine, practice hand stitching, and understand how to measure and cut fabric. They’ll gain confidence in sewing and be excited to showcase their finished creations! Each project will allow students to choose fabrics, colors, and patterns that reflect their personality and style. Kids will leave with something they’re proud to show off!

Our instructors provide step-by-step guidance in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Basic machine lessons are a prerequisite.

Let your child discover the joys of sewing while developing valuable skills they’ll use for years to come. With a new, exciting project each month, the fun never ends!

January & February -My First Quilt

Select 3, 0r 5, fabrics and stitch up a simple lap quilt.

If using 3 fabrics, you'll need 3 - 1 yard cuts.
 
If using 5 fabrics, you'll need 5 - 5/8 yard cuts

Batting - 1 1/2 yards of 90" or wider

Backing - 1 3/4-2 yards

April & May - Easy Backpack **YOU MUST REGISTER BOR BOTH MONTHS

Easy Backpack Pattern
1/2 yard for exterior
1/2 yard for lining
1/4 yard for pocket
1/2 yard flannel (for body)
2" sew in hook & loop tape
4 yds cording


Please bring the following sewing supplies to all classes.

Sewing Machine in good working order with foot control, power cord and accessories
Pins & Pin Cushion
Fabric Scissors
Thread Snips
Marking Pen, Pencil or Chalk of choice

Optional, but helpful, tools:

Seam guide - magnetic or screw in
Needle safety foot or guide
