Kaleidoscope Quilt

The blocks created in the Kaleidoscope Garden quilt will be constructed from floral border fabric. The 1st class will concentrate on layering the fabric to cut the block pieces. The goal is to sew together at least 2 blocks. The remaining blocks will be completed at home. The 2nd class will lay out the blocks and then work on attaching the borders with a mitered corner.
While the finished quilts will be similar, the blocks will be slightly different depending on where the sections are cut. Once all of the blocks are assembled, the quilt will be framed with more of the floral border fabric with mitered corners.
This class is for intermediate quilters. You need to be able to sew an accurate ¼” seam

Fabric Requirements (must be purchased at Sew What)
- 7 yards multicolor floral border fabrics – sub cut into 2 pieces: 2¾ yards and 5¼ yards.

Cutting Instructions Prior to Class
Cut the 5¼ yd piece of border fabric in half so that you have 2 pieces that are 2 5/8 yds.
- Each of the border strips need to be cut. Suggest that strips be cut a ¼” from the bottom edge of the black border. It may be easier to see where to cut from the back side of the fabric. This will give you 8 strip that we will use in class to form the blocks.
- From the white fabric, cut 5 ½” squares. Sub cut the squares once to make 58 triangles.

Instructor Bio: | I got my first quilt kit for Christmas when I was 17. At that time, I had no idea what a ¼” seam was and rotary cutters and quilting rulers were not around. It was a hot mess when I finished the quilt top, but I still love it to this day. Fast forward to today. Once my daughters were off to college, I got back into quilting. I enjoy challenging myself with different quilting techniques. |
