Soft Pottery Bowls with Embroidery and Fabric
Discover what soft pottery is. Learn the process and tips to make useable and creative rope projects. Follow step by step instructions to take ordinary clothesline rope or paracord and turn it into a trinket bowl or larger bowl with or without embroidery, and with or without fabric. These make great homemade gifts any time of the year.
*** You must have completed either the Coaster Class or the Rope Bowl Round/Oval Class prior to taking this class.***
Note that if you want to embroider the bottom of your bowl, you must know how to use your embroidery machine and the stabilizers. This is not a class to learn embroidery. The design should be somewhat circular since the bowl is round. Stitch count should be be 7,000 - 15,000 for best results.
***If you are embroidering on the rope bowl, you will want to familiarize yourself with a few settings on your machine. Please check your manual and bring manual to class. Can you adjust your presser foot height? Where is that setting on your machine? What is the maximum height? Can you adjust your embroidery speed? Where is this setting on machine? It is not the slider bar on the Brother or Babylock models. If you have an option of a spring foot (sensor Q - Viking or dynamic - Pfaff) as well as a floating foot, please bring BOTH feet and know where to change the settings on your machine. Also, bring your straight stitch needle plate if available.****

Instructor: | Holly Gale |
Instructor Bio: | Holly was taught to sew by her mother at the young age of 8. She learned by watching her mom pin patterns, helping cut the fabric, and turning the fabric into lovely garments. She also learned hand embroidery techniques, including crewel, needlepoint, and candle wicking. Holly started her machine embroidery journey with a Designer 1 in 2004 and has since added several machines to her sewing room. More recently, Holly has explored making useful and decorative items out of clothesline rope. This new passion has provided new avenues to share her creations with family and friends. When not creating, Holly enjoys camping with her husband and exploring the states to get ideas for her next projects. |
